I'm sure many are aware of this, verizon has a messages app that allows you to send messages via wifi. So if you are traveling out of the country, and have wifi, you can text any of your contacts for free. Put your phone in airplane mode and leave wifi on and text away. Works on iPads too. It's called simply enough Verizon Messages.
 
Yeah. It's a great app. Especially when you are using an iPad with verizon messages app.

You essentially can text anyone you want on iPad without being restricted to imessage users.

I have both Att and Verizon. Wished Att would make similar app. You can text from Att website. But it's clunky and not as simple.
