Verizon Port Question

I've tried searching this but couldn't find it. I'm going to get the iPhone 3G, and I have verizon. Do I need to cancel my Verizon, than run the porting process in iTunes? or run the porting in iTunes then get Verizon cancelled?

Do the porting process and it should automatically cancel your Verizon account when it's all done.

Port first. do not cancel with verizon first. you will lose your number. it will automatically cancel ur contract when you activate.

The moment your mobile number rings on your iPhone the Verizon is cancelled. I bought June 29 and this prevented me from using either cell until July 3! Hopefully they've ironed things out!
