Anyone know if this would work? I want to pre order the new iPhone on a new verizon edge plan, put my existing iPhone 5 line on a dumb phone for the remainder of my contract (2 months), then when that contract is over, terminate the line for free. This way I only pay $10 per month for my dumb phone line for 2 months in order to get the 6 on pre order now.

Nope they closed the loop. Do a Google search it happened a few weeks back. It sucks for many.

Edit here's a link

But can't you move a line with a smartphone to a dumb phone just to pay less, not having anything to do with the desire for unlimited data? I lost unlimited data a while back. Or, is your point just that no matter what you do to your line, it's a minimum of $30 per line on a share everything plan?
