I have a dumb question will the Verizon still be using CDMA for the iPhone 5? I'm wondering if using Verizon as a carrier on the iPhone 5 will one be able to multitask using data and talk time?

The Verizon iPhone 5 will have the CDMA radio in it for 3G. They might have told Apple to add SVDO (which allows voice and data over 3G) or not. But LTE for Verizon will allow you to do voice and data.

Yes the iPhone 5 uses CDMA.

Over LTE the iPhone 5 can do data and voice, however the Apple website does not show the phone as having an sv-do chip, so data and voice over 3G isn't confirmed.

Yes and yes. They are still using CDMA for voice and data in non LTE areas. If your in an LTE area then you can do both. If your using 3G then it's just like it is now. Eventually it will be voice over LTE once they have the network built up.

It will do voice and data at the same time in 4G areas.

It will do voice and data at the same time in 3G areas if Apple includes support for SVDO.
