Verizon to AT&T/iPhone - weird question

Hello,

I am currently under contract with Verizon until August 19. If i pre-order the iPhone 4 from apple.com right now and get it in the beginning of July, can I wait until August 19th to activate it and to port my cell number to my new iPhone?

I don't want to pay the termination fees to Verizon, but I want to get my hands on the new iPhone asap.

If you're not going to activate it for another 2 months, why are you considering ordering it now? I'm not sure if AT&T requires you to activate the phone within a specified amount of time after purchase.

You should call AT&T to make sure.

This is what you do. Sign up for a new phone, new plan on AT&T and let them assign you a new phone number. You'll have to pay for that phone (monthly) until your Verizon plan goes up and port the number over.

Otherwise, you pay for the unsubsidized phone for $699.

Not trying to hijack your thread lol, but I have a question, I'm also from Verizon, and I signed my contract on december 2008, my question is if I sign up with AT&T on June 24th, will the termination be $325 or the $175, does anyone know for sure how this termination fee on Verizon works? thanks

Verizon ETF is likely low (175-5/month) because you signed up before the ETF change. AT&T will have ETF of 325.

You have 30 days to use the porting service to port your number over to AT&T from Verizon from the day you get you phone.

Just wait till August...or if need be September. I don't think can wait that long to activate it.

Thanks for the help, so I signed up on December 08 so I've been with them for 18 months now, 18x5=$90, $175-$90=$85 I'm guessing thats how much my termination fee gonna be right?
