Verizon to ATT switch question

Hey everyone. My main question is, if I order from apple.com, can I take my iphone to ATT here and get it activated with a plan, or does the plan start right when I order the phone? My friend works at att and really wants me to buy it from him, but I dont want to wait.

They will activate it at the apple store for you. Plan doesn't start until you activate your iphone. Your friend wants commission, but the problem is... he/she will be sold out of them and you have a risk of not getting one at launch day. If it was day or two wait, then who cares. But, now I see July 2nd as a next time of iphone 4 availability date. I wouldn't think twice.

The july 2nd is perfect timing for me since I will not be home until that date. Apple.com it is.
