Don't know if anyone has noticed that before.
It just popped up recently any speculation on what exactly this is?

Maybe some good news for those who don't qualify for an upgrade.

Not sure what you are looking at OP, but the picture you attached didn't have anything about a trade-in program on it. Or maybe it is the fact I'm working on 2 hours of sleep and just didn't notice it.

Bottom right by Check Upgrade Eligibility.

I've attached another picture that might help the sleep deprived. :D

The trade-in program is for qualifying customers who purchased phones from Verizon between November (end of November, like 26th?) and January 11th. Basically, you give them your phone and they will give you up to $200 on a Visa debit card, like their rebate program. Not worth it for most, as if you have a like-new smartphone, you can sell it on eBay for probably $250-400.

The Trade In Program is for any customer. You put in your phone model and some general info and they'll send you a giftcard for X amount once they receive the phone. Since it's a Verizon card, most likely, it's a win/win for them because they give you a low value, and they can refurb the units as replacements.

It's not a good deal, though, IMHO. I put in my Droid and it was like 50 bucks. I can sell it for easily more than that.

It's not exclusive to the iPhone. They just put the link there for people since it's a high traffic landing page.

I have a first gen Blackberry Storm sitting in a draw. Plugged it in and they offered me $8 for it! LMAO!

I never noticed that, but I did notice that the Verizon iPhone cost $.99 more than the one Apple is selling on AT&T

Accept Trade-In Value

Appraised Value $4.00

lol, I paid 5 times that when I bought them 2 years ago....for 4 bucks, I will let my 3 year old son play with my 2 LG dares until they dont function anymore....:D

Many of the older model phones Verizon takes in on trade end up in women's shelters or the such. They pay very little on a trade-in but at least you're doing something charitable for the end user.
