I recently got an offer from Verizon for $700 off on an iPhone 14. The trade-in is for my 11 pro max for in-store credit and I would NOT need to upgrade my phone plan, which is what makes it really enticing. The Drawback is that it seems the offer only works if you chose to pay monthly for 36 months, but it would effectively make a new 14 Pro Max 256 GB less than $500.

I think that's a pretty good deal, but I also haven't been keeping up with the 15 leaks.
What do you guys think?

It’s a good deal with the caveat that you’ll be keeping the 14 PM for 3 years or lose remaining monthly bill credits if you pay off earlier. If you keep your phones for longer periods that would probably work well for you. If not you may want to stay away.

That said I have the exact model/configuration you’re considering and really love it! It’s my first Pro Max iPhone and it’s been an absolute joy since I got it last September. And this is coming from an 13 Pro which was truly awesome.

iPhone upgrades have been very subtle the past few years, which made resisting the upgrade very easy, my 11 PM is still serving me really well and I could easily hold out for the 15, but the price is gonna be pretty steep. If only there was a 2-year option, that would be a nice sweet spot.

Any particular reason you jumped from the 13 to 14? Was it just to try out a pro max?

My mom traded in her 2020 SE for $800 toward a 14 which made it free. Verizon. It’s a three year deal, but if you think about it, Verizon is stupid. Her SE was probably worth less than $50. Anyway, we’re happy with the deal.

It’s only a good deal, if you hold onto your phone for 3+ years, otherwise if you upgrade yearly or every 2, then this isn’t a good deal, especially that you will lose the bill credits if you upgrade before 36 months.

I buy my iPhones at the Apple Store. Unlocked and fully paid for. I use Xfinity which piggybacks on Verizon.

I do by the gig $60 a month. I have four lines.

I can add another line, and I would still only pay $60 a month. Clean and simple, no strings attached.

So no, I wouldn’t do it. Verizon is going to get their money from you.

I used to upgrade every year or two until I got the 11 pro max. I HAD to upgrade from the X to the 11 because of a software update that broke something cellular in the phone so I couldn't call out or receive calls (that was according to Apple store). Then I jumped off the upgrade bandwagon and was just using my phone and was happy.
But Verizon offered me $1000 for the 11PM, I jumped to the 14PM. Bill goes up $3/month for 36 months. I had the 11 that long, I plan on keeping the 14 longer.

My 14 Pro Max has been great, and I will not be upgrading this year, unless Apple bring Rose Gold out for the 15 Pro/Pro Max.

Same! I've had my 11PM for years now and could probably keep it longer since the updates for phones have been pretty minuscule so holding on for 3 years wouldn't be too difficult. Glad you've been enjoying your new phone!

Just took a similar deal from Verizon. $1000 for my iPhone 12 mini. I had to change my plan, but ended up with more hotspot data and my monthly bill with multiple lines is actually reduced by 1/3.

Were you already on a 5G plan with Verizon? My family plan hasn't moved on yet and the one thing I'm concerned about is how a new plan would affect our monthly.

But nice that you got a reduced monthly!

We have an old plan that isn’t unlimited and we didn’t have to change. Not sure if it‘s the same deal now. Your best bet is to call them and ask. That’s what we did.

We were - we had to upgrade during the last cycle to get the previous promotion. This one gave us an additional 15 gigs of hot spot data. Regardless of the monthly, I don’t see our family moving away from Verizon in 3 or 5 years. Having used other services all over the country, it still works for us. If you don’t see yourself porting to another carrier, I think it’s a worthwhile trade in credit.
