Verizon upgrade question

I purchased an iPhone 5 from Verizon. I had 1 line and for the iPhone 5 I added a new line. Would it be possible to switch the old phone number to my iPhone 5 and move the new # to the (old) iPhone 4S?
Would I have to use my upgrade?
