Tonight for the umpteenth time I have been watching tv on the apple tv by streaming from my iphone.

The tv show was getting a bit dull and I wanted to watch a youtube clip for a few secs - but I could not because all audio from the phone was being directed to the apple tv.

This is an example of where I get frustrated with apple - and feel like if I switch to Android - i would get more choice.

For any Android users - can you aplit out the audio?

And for Apple users - I have been able to choose my audio outputs per app on the mac for two decades - why can I not do this now?

I know this is not a huge deal but in a way I feel it is - this is a case where a big corp dictates to the user what they can and cannot do - in the name of simplicity and convenience. But it's not in my name - because I cannot do a simple and basic thing that the software and hardwar is clearly capable of - and it's for your convenience not mine.

This is supposed to be able to work if you don't mirror. However, it never really has.

It might work for like 30-60 seconds, and then whatever is on the TV stops abs reverts to the phone.

Oh well...
