Hi,

Sadly my MacBook Air decided to learn how to swim... and half drowned.

As Apple would not take it under warranty (understandably), I followed the fixit teardown step-by-step to dismantle the computer. Carefully cleaned and dried everything and the MacBook Air came back to life.

Only that now the screen has vertical bars on it as show in the picture

So I'm not sure if this is the Screen failing, or the Motherboard (that has the graphics card inbuilt).

Anyone can provide advice ?

My opinion would be that the integrated graphics card got messed up, however, it still could just be the screen.

I do not know if there is a way to test out a way to figure which it is...some other members smarter than me will have to answer that.

Thats my pain, replace one or the other is cost effective; but both is not.

If the vertical bars are always in the same place and don't show in screenshots then it's probably not the GPU, but the display or display cable.

Tried it and ..

1. the lines are always same spot
2. used "GRAB" and selected the barred screen area. Screen capture was perfect

Hence one would conclude its the screen or screen cable.

This weekend I'll see into this insight.
