I have a 15" 2018 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 Ghz i7 and Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB running macOS 11.0.1 and Safari 14.0.1.
While watching YouTube videos, I see vertical black noise (almost a single line with some much smaller vertical lines parallel and near to the main line). The vertical lines are perfectly spaced dividing the video into 2 (or sometimes 4 although I can't find a way to make that happen now) sections depending on the size of the Safari window and video viewing mode (normal, theater, etc.).
I have determined that this is related to the VP9 support. If I disable the VP9 decoder experimental feature, all looks just fine. Also in Chrome if I enable "VideoToolbox VP9 Decoding", then I see the problem there, too, when I did not see it before. In Chrome, the noise divides the video into 8 equal vertical areas.
I've attached screen grabs showing the issue.
Is this a software bug? Do I have bad hardware? Is there a way to further diagnose to tell?
