While I was browsing the web today suddenly a vertical blue line appeared on the left side of the screen. It sometimes flickers. The screen works, it just became blue. Also, the screen inside the blue line is inverted. When I move my mouse left it goes right and the opposite. I don't have Apple Care, the warranty has expired and I don't have an Apple Store near me. What could be the cause of this and what are my options ?

I would open up your Air and ensure the LVDS cable that goes to the LCD is secure.

Go to ifixit.com and look at the teardown for your Air to get an idea what to do. It's a connector on a wide (but delicate) connector to the system board.

Other than that, replace the display assembly.
