Vertical Column appearing on screen

I have a 2010 white unibody macbook. I have been traveling with it for the last 15 days. After I came to office and I put on the macbook I am getting a vertical column 2 inches thick near the right side of the screen. This column is quivering all the time and I cannot read the text behind it clearly. Kindly let me know if there is a way for me to get rid of this distracting column and restore my macbook screen to its original form.
