A work colleague recently took up the task of replacing my MacBook 13 (mid-2007) LCD because it was broken and had lots of experience in these matters . I got a replacement and he set forth on replacing it. The latest news is that it chimes on boot up and begins building vertical lines until the screen is full of vertical lines. I'm hoping that there is some loose or missing connection but I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences or thoughts about this one.

The thing(s) at fault are likely to be the LCD, LCD cable, or GPU. If you can plug it into an external monitor and see that there are no lines, you can rule out the GPU. My money is that the LCD cable was frayed during the fix.

He got a bad screen.
