Very Annoying Display Problem!

On my ipad i used a program for my macbook to use the ipad as a secondary monitor. It worked but when i am not using it still thinks i am using the ipad as a secondary display. It still lets me rearrange the display in system preferences even though the app isn't running how do i get rid of the secondary display.
