I must say that I was really impressed that the city of Beverly Hills were putting up their Christmas decorations very early this year - before the end of September!!! Turns out that it was only set decorations for a movie, so by yesterday they were gone... until they put up the real ones around the end of November. Here I are a few pics that I snapped before they removed them.

The Home Depot near me had their christmas decorations out already this week... its going to get to a certain point where they may as well not even take them down.

I can always tell what seasonal holiday is coming up by walking into a costco :p

To be fair, there's a reason for that. Costco sells to merchants and small businesses, so if THOSE people need to have seasonal merchandise in stock for their buyers, then Costco needs to have the stuff on the shelves that much earlier. I read in one of Costco's newsletters once that they try to stay two seasons ahead, which is why you'll see Christmas stuff start to come out at the end of the summer.

"I will tell you, that you Christians have created a holiday that has become a beast that cannot be fed. Every year, Christmas gets longer and longer and longer, and you don't care, do you? You just take more and more of the calendar for yourself. It's unbelievable. How long does it take you people to shop?! It's beyond belief. It's insane. When I was a kid, Halloween was Halloween, and Santa wasn't poking his :apple:ss into it!"

The true mark of the season is when Christmas music starts being played.

I was in an Academy Sports store a couple of weeks ago, and they had music piped in and playing very faintly. I was looking at a couple of things, when something in my brain started freaking out, and I realized it was the music. They were playing that song "Merry Christmas to You" or whatever it is named. I almost walked out of the story because of that. I made a joke about it when checking out, and the cashier said she just tunes out all their music because of stuff like that.

Neato. Any word on what movie?

My coworker said "Christmas in Beverly Hills", but they might just be saying that to all those who ask in order to keep the questions to a minimum.

I'm sorry that they took the sets down, it would have been neat if they had left them up until the end of January :)

That's crazy. It's way to early for Christmas music. Mid November seems about right, but I would prefer they wait until after Thanksgiving is over. I was raised in one of those families where the tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. Of course living in Texas it's kinda hard to get into the spirit since we don't really have seasonal weather here. :(
