4K Converter - Used for 1080p and extremely fast

Has anyone else used this application? It is pricey but I am highly impressed with it’s performance. How is it so fast? Does it use the Mac’s hardware at a higher level than what Handbrake does? Compared to Handbrake I am encoding at more than double the speed!

In my testing, a 1080p MKV file being transcoded using H.264 is done in 3 minutes flat. Handbrake on the other hand using similar settings under the “Fast 1080p30” option took 8 minutes and 27 seconds. This kind of performance is amazing!

Have you compared the encoding quality? The speed very likely comes at a cost. You can configure Handbrake to encode faster too, but the results aren't as good. Handbrake is based on the x264 open source encoder, which has an army of very smart contributors. I doubt any proprietary software encoder would be significantly faster given equivalent encoding quality (in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this app used x264 as well).
