I'm writing this post because I wanna help those who don't understand why their iphone/ipod touch usb cable is not always responding to charging or when connected to the computer, and iTunes won't recognize it. Then some ppl will go buy a new cable which won't work either then they will freak out!!!

First make sure that you don't have a faulty cable. If possible, try it on multiple devices, or try another usb cable on your device.

Then comes the tricky (annoying) part  . When you plug in your cable....the usb side is always ok and no problems happen with it, but the multi-pin side which you plug into the iphone/iTouch or the dock is sometimes VERY UNRELIABLE.

SO what you can do is to hold the phone tight, then hold the tip of the multi-pin side of the cable and try to kind of slide it downwards into the device port...it should feel as if you're using the spoon to pick up soup..downwards and up inside the port......yeah very corny i know!!!!

I swear I only discovered this after plugging the cable for at least 30 or 40 times...then I felt like Newton and I was like I GOT IT!!!

Hope this helps folks :)
