very irritating restore issue

hello
everytime i connect the IPHONE to itunes, i get the error that says my phone needs to be restored and i have to restore it and end up reinstalling my music, contacts, etc. i disabled the automatic syncing option and every time i plug it in it says i have to restore.
is there a way to stop that?
