ive searched and i couldnt find a simple answer to this, and im sure the answer is simple. how do you do a fresh install or mac osx??

Insert the install disks (that came with the computer) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key.

If you want to do a complete format and reinstall, you'll want to select "erase and install" (or something like that). An archive and install (when "save preferences" is selected), will reinstall the OS and all programs that came with the computer without getting rid of any files or preferences on the computer (however a backup is still encouraged).

ok

ok, thx

but if i just got the computer, and i want to do a fresh install to free up space (like many reccommend on this site), which option do i use?

Erase and Install.

Then click on the Customize button to give you the options to eliminate things you don't need.
