I just bought an SE2 at enough of a rebate that it was worth the compromise. Or so I thought.
Immediately I scavenged for my old marine blue plastic sportband off the corpse of my busted Series 3, and "discarded" the off-white velcro band (it's in a drawer).

Not only was the included band ugly, but it looked cheap too. The colors made me uncomfortable like I was looking at an old toy I would have taken out of an old box. And it was extremely uncomfortable to wear too. The color highlights looked like Play-Do that was left in the sun for too long. In any other color it might have been fine, but not those. It isn't just whimsical and childish. I could pull off whimsical and childish. Hell, I'm a 40 yo man and I can pull off a panther band. But THAT was plain.

And then I saw the green leaves on the Watch's box, and I thought Wow, this is garbage. I'm never going to use it because it's BOTH ugly AND uncomfortable. But also it looked like it won't last in time. It felt either too loose or too tight, with no sweet spot.

Why did they put green leaves on this... If they really wanted to save the planet they would refrain from including trash in the box and just sell the watch and make a smaller box. I'm forced to use my old bands anyway and not this ugly thing.

I'm also concerned about the choice of plastic as a building material on the back of the Starlight model I chose. I really shows and makes it look like a toy, and it's not very ecofriendly.

I'm happy with the watch, I broke my Series 3 and wanted the cheapest closest replacement. But man why do they come up with those garbage accessories? Nylon isn't cool.

And how long do Apple think they can get away with increasing the percieved value of their tech by making base models look worse on purpose ?

EDIT : Nylon is plastic. The whol back is made of nylon. Therefore it's plastic and the Green leaf 100% recycled marketing is a LIE.
The nylon band is also micro-pollution TRASH.
Returning is wouldn't change a thing, but precipitate that trash right into the ocean. I think I can legitimately call that remark really dumb, as the surest way to make THE WHOLE PRODUCT trash is to discard THE WHOLE THING by returning it.
The rebate is exactly the price of a new, less ugly band, and Apple has multiplied prices by two recently. So, no replacement.
Cheap knock-offs aren't an option, they are more trash into the ocean, people who reference those don't know what they're talking about and haven't taken the time to look at the Amazon honest reviews showing they come appart and degrade within DAYS.

The plastic criticism IS valid, and the "lol just return it" stance is TOXIC, like you may not ever criticize Apple.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I have the SE and it looks identical to the series 0 it replaced.

As for plastic back on the watch, there is no plastic on it, what are you referring to?

SE2 comes with a nylon composite back, certainly not plastic

The solution is simple. RETURN IT.

sorry about your experience.
im not sure what country you live in. but here when you buy the SE you need to choose the band it ships with. there is no longer any standard band that is shipped.
