Hi

Just today, my Macbook (2.16GHz, 2GB, Intel Core 2 Duo) has suffered a major failure. I can't tell if it's software or hardware related so hope you can help.

When in use: Sudden, complete failure without warning. Cuts to black screen, switches down and requires reboot to get going again. Have been using Safari 4 on all occasions but suspect that's co-incidence.

Bootup issues: Various boot states. Sometime grey screen with horrible noise/lines (see youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My_S8MypvU0), sometimes blue screen no cursor, sometimes boots right through to desktop but runs slow.

Anything I can try here? Diagnoses? Prognoses?

Thanks, J

Sounds like the logic board (a.k.a. the spinal cord of your MacBook).

Are you covered under AppleCare (the extended warranty)? Give Apple a call or take it to your nearest Apple Store.

Booked in for Saturday. Not covered by Applecare sadly... jeez, this could be expensive.
