First off I need to preface my setup. I have two monitors. Acer Predator XB273X 240hz G sync monitor and an LG 29 inch ultra wide. I have a big custom built windows desktop I use for gaming and after effects, it has a GTX 1070 8 GB. I plug my Acer and my LG into it with display port. They are color calibrated with xRite and have their own software profiles with display cal as well. I also use them with two Macs: 2019 MacBook Pro and my new M1 chip Mac mini. I connect the same monitors to my Macs with HDMI. (display port for the windows machine). When I plug my LG ultra wide into either of my Macs, it looks exactly the same contrast/color settings wise and for the most part the colors and "look" is basically the same as when I use it on my pc. But when I plug my Acer predator via HDMI to either of my Macs, even the OSD shows the same settings it looks like contrast is at 150% and saturation way too high. It looks terrible and like burns my eyes.
The weird thing is when I plug the same monitor into my windows ALSO with HDMI just to test if it was the HDMI cable (I usually use this monitor with display port on windows), it looks fine even on HDMI with my windows pc. With Mac it looks terrible, the contrast looks like its pumped up to 100 the settings look super off even though the actual OSD settings say they are the same as before.
anyone had this issue before? A monitor looking terrible on Mac but fine on windows
