Very strange sprint iphone that shows as Verizon!!??!!??

I found an iPhone 4 on top status bar it says sprint. I waited nearly 3 weeks for a txt or call from someone so I can answer a phone and find out who it was but nothing no call or txt, address book is empty.

So I was wondering if it was maybe reported stolen or something, but when I checked online, the ESN is clean under Verizon Network... What? How is it possible? I re-entered the MEID to make sure it was correct and it is. I have verizon, activation online goes through and shows up on my device list.

But I can't activated it to received calls or something.

You got to remember esn checkers don't always display right information, have you called Verizon or sprint?
