Very very slow screenshots??? - MBP (Late 2008)

Whenever I take a screenshot (cmd+shift+3/4) my screen freezes for 10+ seconds.

I'm aware that she freezing part is the image being taken but I find it hard to believe that it takes 10+ seconds to save it?!?!

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

I know this is not a huge issue but I'd still like to get to the bottom of it.

Any advice at all would be great!

I received this answer on the Apple support forums:

there's a known issue if you're taking screenshots with the 9600gt and on battery power, it freezes for some reason.
There's no known fix yet. If these are not the conditions you're using then you may have another issue.

This seems to be the case for me.

If anyone has any other info - please let me know.

Thanks! - I had previously searched but couldn't find anything specific.

I imagine Apple will only provide a software fix for it if they receive enough requests/ complaints?
