I own a 24" imac.

I just noticed that when viewing my desktop, I noticed hundreds (not just a few) of little blue dots on the screen, like they are stuck pixels. They are divided all over the screen. When viewed over a white background, you cant see them.

When I go to a web page with a dark background they are visible.
When on the dark background, they seem to flicker almost, like stars in the night. Sometimes individual ones appear and disappear.

I took some photos of the screen with my cell phone and uploaded them here. Its not the greatest camera. but this will give you an idea.

They are not quite as large as they seem because I guess they are out of focus, but they are the size of pixels.

What in the world happened? I am glad I purchased Applecare. Should I bring it to an Apple store? Do you think they will replace the screen? I swear by my iMac, but I am really upset that this happened. Due to my job, I can't be without my Mac for more than a few days.

Yeah, bring it in. It looks more like the display adapter inside is b0rked than the panel, but either way it needs fixing.

Do you think they can fix it on the spot, or is it going to take a while?

You can call, they'll probably just tell you to come in and make an appointment though.

That almost certainly a video RAM fault. Call AppleCare. Theres nothing else you can do.

TO UPDATE:

I brought my mac in on 6/8. I described the problem and the mac genius ordered the replacement of the video card. They told me the 7600 would arrive on 6/12 and they would get right on it.

As of 6/14 it has not been fixed.
