I have a macbook pro and I'm looking to get into learning to DJ. I don't want to be a pro or anything, but I'd like to be decent. Space is extremely limited and I've narrowed my search down to the Vestax Typhoon and the Vestax Spin.

Which do you think is better? I'll be mainly on the mac, but I like the software (traktor) that comes with the Typhoon and the look of the controller better. Is there a significant difference? I've heard different opinions on the two.

Also, any good starting advice or videos you'd recommend watching? I'll be doing mostly hip-hop, r&b, pop, and some club music.

It basically all comes down to whether or not you're going to use Traktor LE. And if you like the look of the Typhoon, even better, because there are a lot of DJ's who hate it.

One of my friends works for Vestax Customer Service and told me he's getting a lot of returns where people bought the Typhoon just to burn the Traktor software that came with it. Shows you where the value is

Oh ok interesting. I didn't know that. Yeah, I like the Typhoon better than the Spin, but it is more expensive.

I'm pretty impartial to dj controllers. I tried the VCI 100 and thought it was meh. I believe it came with Serato Itch. It was alright. Haven't triend the ones you mentioned, i don't think.

But IMHO, nothing beats vinyl and a mixer. Traktor scratch pro is on sale right now for 50% off. If this sale was on earlier this year I would have grabbed it. I'm running serato.
