VGA or DVI for 2nd iMac display?

I have and extra display sitting around in my house and it has two ports: DVI and VGA. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can use a Mini DisplayPort to DVI/VGA Adapter to set it up as a second display.

So I have two questions for you to answer:
1. Can I set up the display as a second display?
2. Should I get a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter or a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter?

VGA = Analog (Think of as Component HD cables)

DVI = Digital (Same video signal as HDMI minus the Audio)


Hands-down use a DVI.
