What is the real difference between VGA and DVI anyways?
The main difference between VGA and DVI is that VGA is analog (image transmitted with waves) while DVI is digital (image transmitted with 0's and 1's). CRT's are all analog so they all use VGA. More and more LCD's are using DVI because LCDs are digital devices. If you use a VGA connection with an LCD display, you are converting the computers digital signal into analog to move along the VGA interface only to be converted back to digital to be displayed by the LCD. There is bound to be some loss in quaility through the whole process.
