VHS to my Mac

What cables and software would I need to get something from a VHS onto my Mac (I have an MDD Powermac G4 and a white MacBook, btw)? My dad needs to get some video footage online.

You'll probably need an Elgato TV device and then you could record from your VCR in realtime.

I've been using the Elgato EyeTV 250 and its been great! I converted all old vhs tapes that my parents had onto my computer and will be making dvds out of them in the near future.
