Why was the vibrate function never added to the ipod touch, it seems they have added everything else from the Iphone but this, yet added more useless features like airplane mode to the Itouch??

Don't think so... airplane mode is software, vibrate is hardware.

There is no need for it. It's useful on a phone as a method of alerting the user that something (say, a phone call) needs their immediate attention. Yes, iPt can do VOIP, but it wasn't built for that purpose, hence no vibrate.

I don't see 512mb of RAM, GPS, a decent rear facing camera, an earpiece or a cellular radio on iPt 4th gen.

It turns off WiFi and bluetooth in a single click, instead of two. Is its existence really causing you that much offence?

mostly would be nice for games I guess

I'm going with space issues. It's a very thin and compact device, and to get any good vibration, the mechanism needs a fair bit of mass on it, which it just doesn't appear that there was room for in the touch's ever-shrinking chassis.

so the Iphone is thicker then the Ipod, did not know that!

Yeah, quite a bit. The current iPhone is also squared off and the iPod Touch is rounded. The ipt is very, very thin, maybe even as thin as the Nokia E71... not sure.

Not sure? of course not! It's thinner than E71 obviously!;)
