I recently got an iPhone 3GS and I'm wondering if there is a way to make it vibrate when I get a new text and have a ring tone when I get a call. Right now it's either all vibrate, all sounds, or all both. I'm gonna JB it soon, is there an app I can download to let me do this?

I would LOVE for this option as well. I only want it to vibrate when I get a txt, but play a sound for all other alerts... I don't think there is a way though unfortunately :(

You'd technically be able to do this, but it would require jailbreaking the device, and using a "silent" ringtone for SMS and MMS messages. You would have the phone vibrate and ring for both SMS and Calls, but it would only play a sound when calls came thru.

OR you can just go to settings, sounds, new text message, none......

This would be perfect. Once i jailbreak, what do i need to do to get the silent ring for texts?

What about making a recording of nothing, and setting it as your text message sound. It should still vibrate, and Ring & vibrate when you get a call.

Check in Cydia. I'm pretty sure there's some that have already been hosted. If not it's just a question of which application you use to create a blank sound file.
