One way or another, I need my MacBook's Mini-DVI and headphone jack to connect to my TV's HDMI connection. Any under-$100 ideas?

Help with LG 42 mini DVI to HDMI all I see is screen saver
I plugged the adapter in, tuned the LG42 LCD to the new found input and inserted a dvd. the screen simply showed the screen saver or background. None of the apps and screen I see on my Macbook the macbook took the dvd and kicked in just fine on it's screen and played. The screen on the LG did not change....any ideas?
