iPod Video and Photos on iPod

For the first time, I am trying to download video to play on the new iPod from iTunes and my iMac. I would like to also download photos from iPhoto to put on my iPod. However, my software apparently is not up to date. I have iPod version 1.0 and those listed below. What versions software for both the iPod, iMac and iPhoto do I need to accomplish this task and does anyone know the most affordable way to get to that level? Thanks, Chris

i gotta ask, but do you have a 5g ipod (current version)
Run software update also

Just run Software Update from Apple menu
