Video calling on Windows Live Messenger

I am planning to buy iPad 2 to my mother for her birthday. She only uses computer for video calling on MSN to her sister and mother from other country. That's why I wanted to buy her a device that is easier to use, hence iPad. And I wanted to ask here, if anybody knows whether Microsoft is planning to release update to MSN app for video support?
