Well as the title says, I have a video capturing problem with IMovie HD.

It won't capture video from my sony DCR-TRV25! And that is the only digital video camera that I have.

Apperantly, IMovie doesn't support that specific camera and I am really pissed off. But I tried this program called MediaCapture but that didn't work either. So, yeah. What other program can I use to capture video?

Thanks,
Wirercx ;)

this is all i can come up with

http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/usage/5020.shtml

see if that helps

full apple list of compat cams
http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/camcorders.html

also Sony offical specs page lists only :

Microsoft windows 98se, 200, Me,Xp, Macintosh 8.5.1-9.1 ** no USB streaming

no mention of OS 10.X

ok well I have gotten as far as getting the camera controls to work on MediaCapture... so i think that that is a little bit of an acomplishment. now, how do i get the record to work? and it also says "unusable signal"!

wirecx,

Here's a review of the Sony DCR-TRV27. DV Spot

The TRV27 is compatible with OS X and iMovie. The TRV25 is esentially the same as the TRV27, with the exception of the screen. So you Sony should work.

Here's a dumb question (don't be offended). Are you using a Firewire (aka iLink) cable to connect the camcorder to the Mac? If not, buy the proper Firewire cable for your gear.

If you are using Firewire, are you sure the cable isn't bad? Or maybe the port on the Sony or Mac are bad.

Hope that helps.

I am using the firewire cable.

But the thing is, is that it has worked on other Windows computers in the past.

I just don't know why it isn't working now.
