I couldn't find much of any information on this but I was wondering if, aside from the difference in VRAM, the MBP models have any differences in the gfx chip (ie higher clock rates). Simple question :D

Thanks. Had seen that page before but hadn't read that much into it. It showed clock rates for the 15" vs 17" but not the 15" 128VRAM vs 15" 256 VRAM. Interesting that the 17" would run faster.

Back to my original question that never got a true answer:
Is the actual hardware any different between the 15" and 17" models, or could the 15" be overclocked to match the 17" without any concerns?

It'll run hotter. The clock speed difference isn't that great either. I'd ramp it up slowly and make sure the fans speed is increased.
