Video Card help...no clue

Hi! So my brother just purchased Portal 2, and it's saying the video card/video hardware doesn't meet the minimum requirement. I have no experience with gaming or anything of the sort, but would like to know if it's possible to run Portal 2 on my mac without upgrading to Lion. (running on mac os 10.6.8) :confused:

Snow Leopard (10.6.7) or better for P2. What Mac does he have (model, year)?
