video card to replace an ATI 3870 on a Mac pro 1.1 (2006)?

Hi all

I am planning to upgrade my ATI 3870 with 512 Mb with something more modern (I cannot afford a brand new mac pro at the moment); so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion.

I mainly use the computer for 3d applications (maya, c4d, poser); and sometimes games too (mainly lord of the rings online, star trek online; call of duty and rpg games); so anything with DX10 support on windows would be great (I have bootcamp with W7 to play games).

Perhaps a 5870 would work well

Is the 5870 much better than the 5770? I see that there is a 200 dollars difference in price.

And I also need to plug in 2 monitors that are not apple (a 22 inch samsung and a 23 inch LG); can i do that with the 5870?
