Has anyone else noticed a HUGE jump in the upstream bandwidth using FaceTime and/or Google video chat (or Hangouts) under Mavericks?
It used to be that FT would take between 30-60KB/sec upstream from my computer, which was fine. Recently, however, any kind of video chat maxes out my upstream bandwidth and chokes my internet service which means that (a) the video coming *from* her is choppy and (b) I can't do anything else on the computer while chatting. It's been so bad that I've had to resort to 4G FaceTime from my iPhone, which is quickly eating up my 3gig allotment.
So in addition to my question above (has anyone else noticed this?), does anyone know of a way to directly limit or trick FaceTime into using less upstream bandwidth? I'm on a 2012 top-spec'd 15" rMBP if that makes a difference.
