Hey guys,

I'm trying to watch a video file on my PB but got the following error on VLC:

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Do you know what software I'd need to download to be able to watch that file?

Thanks for your help

Is Flip4Mac UB yet though? Not sure if that matters in the OP's case since he used the term PB, not MBP, but it's still something to keep in mind. In general though, yes, Flip4Mac is a great solution - and even better, it's free!

Flip4Mac is not yet UB. There is, however, a new Windows Media codec which is UB. Search this forum for its name.

Yes It Works!! And Wmv3 Is On My Quicktime

The Program "flip4mac" Realy Works!
You Just Need To Download It And Reset Quitime Before Install It... Then You Will Be Able To See Any .wmv3 File On Your Own Quitime.

One More Time.. Microsoft Lost. ;)

Since you have chosen to revive an 8-month old thread, you should understand that the world has changed since the last post before yours. Flip4Mac is now UB. It has purchased Popwire, its only competitor. VLC on the Mac now handles WMV3. The only thing which has not changed is that there is still no way to play DRMed Windows Media on the Mac.

which version of VLC are u using? new VLC 0.8.6 already have wmv3 codec by default.

oh my, just found out you are digging the graveyard. lol M$ didn't lose anything, DRM protected WMV still can't be played on Mac.

Haha...I love ancient threads. Anyway, I now prefer VLC to Flip4Mac for standalone video files, it just seems faster and w/o lag.

Yep, VLC 0.8.6 is really fast now with WMV files :)

But I do like it to install as many QuickTime codecs as possible as I use the preview pane alot in the Finder.
