So I just bought a 17 inch macbook pro and i have a canon HV20 which I am almost considering upgrading and buying something new, maybe even going up to something in the prosumer range. Anyways I saw some videos, such as this one:

http://www.vimeo.com/431500

and it got me wondering on video coloring. now i have final cut express, which is fine for what i use it for, but what i want to know is, are there any other programs that are really great at coloring such as what was done in this video, according to the poster, done in Vegas 7, for macs.. that aren't extremely expensive?

FCE has Colour Correction filters build in:

Color Correction
Secondary (two-way) color corrector
Image control filters
Broadcast-safe filter
Correction for flesh tones and other key elements
Color mixing for visual style
Footage matching from different sources for consistency
Error correction in color balance and exposure

Just look around for some colour correction tutorials around the web, like on creativecow or even the manual should have some tips, at least the FCP manual has.

Apple Color FTW. $500 in a university bookstore. Excellent tool. It took me a month to learn it by reading the Apple Pro Training Series book "Color" and Steve Hullfish's "The art and technique of digital color correction." Take a stab at it..
