Video Conversion App

Hey everyone,
I have a lot of movies that I moved to an external hard drive before my motherboard in my pc gave out and I was wondering if iDVD or iMovie enables me to convert them from avi to mp4 or dvd. I was in the process in the process of converting them so I could watch them on my ps3 but obviously I was unable to finish. If those programs don't work, does anyone know of another one that I can buy at an Apple Store? I would really hate to have my mom send my entire movie collection.

Those are available at an Apple Store?

When I get my mbp I'll go ahead and try using imovie and idvd and if they don't work I will go ahead and purchase something else.

You can download them both for free off the internet. iMovie is too cumbersome and not good/meant for video converting. So I think you'll realize that soon enough.
