Stupid question, but how are you getting to view the "Dimensions" column? I don't see any mention of it if I go View > Show View Options. This is all I see for the "Movies" folder. Am I missing something?
In the Movies directory hover over one of the column names at the top like Name, Date Modified and do a two finger click, you will then see a list of columns you can display including Dimensions, Duration, Title and Codecs.
This is cool hidden feature that's been there a long time. There seems to be something special about the Movies and Pictures directories in the home directory, but I don't know how it's done.
If you create a new directory within Movies (or Pictures), the new folder seems to inherit the ability to show the additional columns. Other than that, I don't know a way to get other folders to do likewise.
Apparently this behavior depends only upon the name of the folder. Renaming a folder within Documents from "untitled folder" to "Movies" (or "Pictures") adds the ability to display the extra columns. Seems to be hard-coded into Finder.

However, if you rename a folder to "Movies", activate one or more of these columns, then rename it back to whatever you want, the columns remain visible. This is very handy for video professionals — thanks.
