Hi there!
I have a Macbook Pro Early 2011 15" and I did some updates to it. I placed an SSD and added extra RAM so I have 8GB total. It is running fast but Final Cut Pro X and other video editing software is running very slow!
I'm currently working with 4K footage from the Panasonic Lumix GH4. My graphics card is only 256 MB (AMD Radeon HD 6490M) so I guess that's the main problem.
What are my possibility's to make this Macbook Pro a better 4K video editing machine?

FCPX will work better on a GPU with more video RAM. Ergo, one of the current rMBP's with either the Intel Isis Pro or dedicated nVideo video (with 2Gigs of video RAM) will allow FCPX to run faster when processing video.

I had the same MBP (spring 2010) and was limited by the 256mb video RAM in Photoshop CC (i.e. no 3D and filters were slow). Upgrading to one of the current rMBP is about the only solution.
