Hey guys, First off I would like to say that this forum is awesome!

Anyways,

I currently own the 15'' Intel Core i7 Macbook Pro running at 2.66 Ghz.
Its got 4 GB of DDR3 and the 500 GB Hard drive running at 5400 RPM.

My job involves editing/rendering/exporting HD Footage from my Prosumer Canon XH-A1.

Now, as of right now, my computer edits/renders/exports it just fine, with no issues.

BUT, if I was to upgrade something on my Macbook Pro, what should I do first? (If I got into Editing Uncompressed HD Footage I would probably need to do this)

Replace the 500 GB Hard drive with something Faster and possibly more space. (Before I went Mac I had a 7200 RPM Hard drive in my Windows Laptop and I really hated going back down to 5400 RPM)

Or

Replace the 4 Gigs of Ram and put in 8 Gigs?

If I did do the 8 Gig Switch, how much does the Stock 4 Gigs of ram go for online? (If i was to sell it)

From what I have read, replacing the Ram does not void the Apple Warranty, But does Replacing the Hard drive Void it?

Also, I purchased the 3 year Accidental Protection plan from Best buy for my MBP, Does replacing the Hard drive and or Ram void that?

Thanks for your time!
