Video Editor Recommendation for Rendering/assembled 480 X 360 clips?

I currently use iMovie version 6 to put low pixel rate (e.g. 480 x 360) clips together. I was wondering if FCP or some other app is much faster. I don't do much editing. Mostly just assemble chunks and render them into movies.

If that is all you do then spending money on FCP is a waste not to mention you need some serious compute hardware. To be honest I would stick with iMovie at the most go with Final Cut Express, but from what it sounds like you do, I think even that is overkill.

What kind of computer do you have? Depending on that it may not even be worth looking at anything else.

I have a 2.4 ghz MBP and 2ghz iMac.

I hadn't thought about FC Express. That wouldn't be too expensive.
