What video encoding application do you guys use for converting DVD to AVI (or other file)? Please vote. I used to use HandBrake. Loved it, because it was easy to use, but was not too pleased with all the results, and it lacked some options.

I found ffmpegX to be much better for me, because there are more options. I think the resulting files are better with ffmpegX. I wish you could see an image of the movie while cropping, tho...

for what ? DVD/iPod/Front Row or Web?

handbrake will no doubt get used somewhere along the line and Mactheripper for DVD extraction and for me iMovie does wonders

iDVD will encode to Mpeg2 and burn - QT will encode for iPod plus everything else for me
