I'm looking to turn my G5 into a DVR, but don't really want to put out for the EyeTV. I was looking at ATi's All-in-Wonder cards, but didn't see them for the Mac. Are there any other alternatives?

Ideas:

-If you happen to have a DV video camera you can probably use that (cheap solution)

-Formac DVR (expensive)

- There is a mac card that runs about $100 i don't have the link but maybe someone else does. (compromise)

Canopus has the ADC series that I use for many analog to DV conversions. Problem is it converts to DV not MPEG. The more $ model will do MPEG2 compression on the fly. Maybe that will work. But then, it probably costs the same as the EyeTV does.
